words to live by

motto-logoLast year, Time Inc. launched Motto, a platform designed to empower millennial women. The site aims to inspire the next generation with advice about work, life, and play – a fitting addition to Time Inc.’s female-positive suite of digital media brands, including HelloGiggles, xoVain, and xoJane.

Motto’s continuously-refreshed feed of videos, open letters, listicles, and life hacks touch on everything from careers and finance to relationships, wellness, fashion, and travel. “How to Cleanse, Attack and Prep for Your Best Year Ever” and “Why Aren’t There More Female Billionaires in the World?” are two stories recently posted on the homepage.

Since its launch, Motto has featured wise words from some of the world’s top influencers, including Barack Obama, Lena Dunham, Jenna Lyons, Shonda Rhimes, Michael Kors, John Green, Megyn Kelly, Jorge Ramos, and Ina Garten.

Joining this list of iconic mentors is former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson. Time Inc. confirmed earlier this month that Carlson will pen her own monthly column for Motto. Her advice will focus on female empowerment in the workplace, a topic she especially advocates following her public sexual harassment lawsuit against former Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes. Carlson’s first column will publish on January 16.

As the publishing landscape continues to evolve, Time Inc. continues to grow its digital audience. Motto serves as just another example of the publisher’s mobile- and social-first initiative. The site’s comprehensive social media presence and digital newsletter are key in attracting and engaging the millennial audience (men and women, alike), as well as providing them with quality content they crave.
