from newsstands to fingertips

hand-delivered copy of Vogue

The Oscars, New York Fashion Week, Groundhog Day – all signs that spring is near! Though with the winter we’ve been having, it’s hard to imagine when I’ll be able to wear shorts again.

But I digress.

When the weather is this bitter, it’s hard to find a reason to leave your apartment – even if you’re drooling over the latest issue of Vogue. Now, thanks to Postmates, you won’t have to! With their new service, Vogue-On-Demand, the start-up company is promising a hand-delivered copy of the March issue of Vogue for $15. The reason for the mark-up (a normal issue is only $4.99)? The delivery also comes with a six-month print & digital subscription to the magazine. $15 to keep my slippers on? I’m listening…

And they’re not the only company bringing the issues directly to you. Refinery29 is a popular style website and they’re capitalizing on New York Fashion Week to extend their brand. If you hopped in an Uber car in New York during Fashion Week, you might have been presented with the premier issue of Refinery29 Editions, a 28-page “zine” that the website is rolling out. What a pleasant reward for braving the cold!

And so though this winter has made it hard to remember the times when there were no snow piles, we are reminded that there are companies out there who exist to make our lives a little easier. And definitely warmer…
