You may have heard of the Dawg Pound or maybe even the Bleacher Creatures. These playful nicknames refer to the fans at sporting events – the loyalist ones of all.
So if you’ve heard of these nicknames, you may also be familiar with the popular sports website – FanSided. The website was created in 2009 by two brothers who recognized the under served die-hard fan audience and wanted to create content specifically for them. By the people and for the people. And to the sports fanatics out there, you simply cannot have enough of this content.
Lucky for us, the website was recently acquired by Time Inc. as part of its Sports Illustrated digital expansion. FanSided is bringing its 1,500+ contributors, localized sports coverage, and unique voice to the Time Inc. family. The site is organized in a playful way, using catchy headlines to grab your attention, such as, “Shaq lifts Chris Webber as part of his workout routine.” I mean, who isn’t going to be intrigued by that?!
If you ask us, the partnership between FanSided and Sports Illustrated goes hand-in-hand…much like a stadium hot dog and an ice cold beer.
